Perry is Perry is a Chicago native she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as as seen through flashback) Her mother portrayed Jackie Harris in two of Perry's early TV appearances. But her parents would not permit her to perform until she reached the age of adulthood because of the negative effects that stress could affect their child. Perry acknowledged that she was not confident in her acting during high school. However, she began acting to meet new people during her time at Northwestern University after switching from Boston University. Perry began her career in New York after graduation, getting small role in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Then, homesickness led to Perry return to California to work as an actress in the theater. In 2013 she performed in The Other Place on Broadway alongside her mother. In 2015, she appeared with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning Drama Anna Christie. The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry was in nine episodes of The Family, an ABC thriller The Family in 2016. Her father played her character in her role on the ABC Drama Scandal. She also played the young Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon which was which is a CBS spin-off from The Big Bang Theory. Despite the fact that she has a connection with her family to the character she got the role through an audition.
