Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actress singer and songwriter. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and encountered a number of racial slurs, which made her feel unwelcome. As she entered the 9th grade she began to feel more secure after being praised by her teachers when she sang at the school's audition. This experience did not just help to boost her confidence, but also changed the direction she was heading in her the future. In 1992, she earned her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. When she turned 23, she started her professional career in Broadway in the Paul Simon musical The Capeman. Then, at 23 years old, her movie debut was You've Got Mail. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot, she played The Lady of The Lake which won the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. Later that year, as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy on ABC the show, she received more appreciation. A well-known performer, she also has released songs and plays. She is an activist who is a tireless advocate for LGBT equality.
